About

I coach leaders because I have spent my career being one.

I am a chief executive, executive coach, speaker, and founder. My work is helping people find clarity inside complexity — the kind of complexity that comes with a title, a team, a budget, and other people depending on your judgment.

The record

Leading

Chief executive of a nonprofit organization

I run an organization: budgets, board, staff, service delivery, and the consequences of every decision. Twenty-plus years of leadership — including Head Start work — taught me what pressure does to judgment, and how to keep making sound calls anyway.

Building

Founder of a coaching and consulting practice

I founded my own firm to do this work deliberately rather than on the margins of another job. Coaching, leadership development, and speaking are the practice, not a side interest.

Studying

An MBA and a master's in counseling

The MBA gave me strategy, finance, and how organizations actually move. The Master's in Human Services Counseling, with an emphasis in life coaching, gave me trained insight into people and change. Most coaches have one of those. I use both in the same hour.

Recognition

Two-time Titan 100 honoree

Named twice to the Titan 100, which recognizes the top C-suite executives in Phoenix. A book on leadership and personal growth is forthcoming.

What I hold to

Clarity is built, not received

Waiting to feel certain is a strategy for staying still. We narrow the question, test it against reality, and decide.

Hard things are learnable

Difficult conversations, unfamiliar rooms, unpopular decisions — competence in these is trained, not inherited.

Candor is respect

I will name what I see. Coaching that flatters you is expensive company, not development.
